We begin with Fasanenstrasse, the seat of Berlin’s Jewish community. Although the synagogue was destroyed on November 9th 1938, the portal is still standing today. Stroll Kufuerstendamm, the main shopping boulevard. View The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church, its ruins a reminder of the Second World War. Visit The Jewish Museum Complex that provides Jewish historical and cultural exhibitions. Go to Lindenstrasse, where the former synagogue that became Checkpoint Charlie is situated. Take in the nearby Checkpoint Charlie Museum dedicated to the immense efforts exerted by many to get from East to West. Behold Potsdamer Platz, the public square and city intersection, now a powerful symbol of Berlin’s renewal. Also see the site of Hitler’s former bunker, and near that, The Holocaust Memorial, and The Brandenburg Gate. From there, view the Reichstag (German Parliament), Berlin’s Old Jewish Quarter and place of deportation to the concentration camps. In addition, the tour takes you to The New Synagogue and Jewish Cemetery, the reconstructed Nikolai Quarter, the beautiful square at Gendarmenmarkt, the tree-lined Berlin Unter den Linden Boulevard, the stately Charlottenburg Palace (Schloss Charlottenburg), and the site of the 1936 Olympic games.
