| Karlstejn
Castle
The medieval
castle of Karlstejn, located 35 km (20 mi) south-west of
Prague, is a Gothic wonder overlooking a tiny and
picturesque village. The fortress was founded by Holy Roman
Emperor Charles IV in 1348 to house Bohemia's valuable
coronation jewels and relics, and henceforth remained an
important part of the region's heritage. Inside you'll be
able to admire the castle's rich stucco decorations and
unique collection of weapons.
