Prague was once the site of the largest Ashkenazim population in the world and even though the Jewish population is nowadays very small their legacy still lives on in Prague's Jewish Quarter. On this tour we'd take you around the whole area, only about 2 miles qsquare, to which the Jewish population were once confined. You'll visit 6 synagogues, including the oldest shul anywhere north of the Alps and the beautiful, 19th-century Spanish Synagogue with its intricate Moorish-style decoration. We'd also visit the Burial Society Building and the Old Jewish Cemetery - built to conserve the limited space as much as possible and up to 12 graves deep in some places. This is the final resting place of the Maharal, Rabbi Judah Loew, as well as the 17th century Jewish mathematician David Gans.
